Award-Winning 3D Animated Health & Safety Video Series
When a US enterprise client approached us with a brief to produce a suite of Health & Safety videos for their workforce across multiple American sites, the ask was clear in its ambition but open in its execution. The content needed to be engaging, technically accurate, site-specific — and fully 3D animated. How to achieve that was left entirely to me.
With full creative ownership, a genuinely complex production challenge, and subject matter where clarity is crucial, this project allowed me bring creativity and informational accuracy together to develop something great for the client. The project went on to win a Global Environmental Health & Safety Award in North America.

The Challenge
Each video ran to approximately 30 minutes of finished content, with variations tailored to the specific operational context of each US site. The scripts were dense with technical and regulatory information. The audience was a diverse, site-based workforce who needed to absorb and retain what they were watching. The stakes were high — this wasn’t brand content, it was safety-critical communication.
The challenge was to make content that was visually compelling enough to hold attention across a 30-minute runtime, accurate enough to satisfy legal and compliance standards, and flexible enough to be adapted across multiple sites without rebuilding from scratch each time.
The Process
With no prescribed production method, my first step was research. I evaluated several 3D animation tools and selected CreateStudio based on the visual quality achievable within our timeline, its flexibility for producing multiple variations efficiently, and the consistency it would allow across the series.
From there I developed a unified visual language — character design, colour palette, motion style, typographic hierarchy — that would work as a coherent framework across every site-specific version. Building this system upfront meant each variation could be produced efficiently without sacrificing the creative consistency that made the series feel like a series.
Working from voiceover scripts and site-specific assets supplied by the client, I built each video iteratively. Regular review checkpoints with stakeholders ensured technical accuracy at every stage, while pacing, animation timing and infographic design kept the content engaging throughout.
The Result
The completed series was delivered across all required sites and went on to win a Global Environmental Health & Safety Award in North America — recognition that reflected both the creative quality of the production and the rigour with which the content was developed.
The project also generated follow-on client interest across additional international regions, and marked the introduction of 3D animation as a capability within the business.
